Dave's Responses to Citizen Queries:
My long term vision for Maplewood is to provide a city where our citizens are safe,
happy, and have a good quality of life. Where our children can get a good education and
experience the opportunities that will allow them to be successful. Where our streets and
infrastructure are sound and where people can retire without losing their lifesavings or be
forced to relocate due to crime, taxation, or development.
Dave's comments about his team:
I am proud to be associated with two running mates that have the stature of Ken Smart
and DelRay Rokke. These guys are hard-working, dedicated, and selfless individuals who
truly care about the welfare of others and the welfare of the city of Maplewood. They are
upstanding, responsible family men who possess a strong moral fiber and unbending
character. They are intelligent, experienced, and represent consummate professionals. It
is a pleasure working with them.
The army is assembled and we may not see another like it in our lifetime. Many soldiers
are wounded and many are tired. Too many have lost all hope and have already given up
in despair. But we have enough who are willing to fight, not for our lives, but for the life of
Maplewood. And we have enough to win. Is this a war? You're darn right it is!!! We
have been waging it for years. Many more than the last 3 or 4. Can we win? Yes, we can.
But make no mistake, this is not a movie. There may not be a happy ending. Is this
Maplewood's best and last chance to get it right?
Take a hard look at the candidates that are running for office. Pay attention to the factions
and alliances that are developing. It should be almost too easy to figure out who to vote
for in this election. "Birds of a feather flock together."
Get out and vote. Don't throw darts. Don't spin the wheel. Don't draw straws or shake
the dice. Use your God given intelligence to figure things out. Give the team of Smart,
Rokke (Rocky) and Hafner your support!!! Help "Maplewood get it right in 09."
