We are writing to endorse Mr. Dave Hafner as a representative for the Maplewood city
council. We have known Dave for over 30 years and consider him to be a person that
possesses the highest level of integrity. As a former teacher-coach at St. Bernard’s High
School, he was an excellent and dedicated educator who earned the respect of his
students and peers. Dave’s team spirit, work ethic, and concern for his students (and their
parents), demonstrate that he has the qualifications to serve Maplewood well. He is the
type of person who “walks the talk.”
Dave has a wonderful and supportive family, his wife Shannon and three girls, Taylor,
Brooke, and Corinna, and is currently working hard as a firefighter for the St. Paul Fire
Department. He grew up in the North End community in a family of nine children,
attended St. Bernard’s High School and the College of St. Thomas.
Essentially, Dave has spent his entire adult life in the service industry. He cares about
people and is one of the most fair-minded individuals that we have had the pleasure of
working with. Maplewood will be well served with David Hafner as a member of its’city
